Send Targeted Follow-Ups for Abandoned Consults
Turn “I’ll think about it” into “Let’s book it.”
Background & Why This Matters
Someone booked a free consult or filled out your intake form — and then… disappeared.
They didn’t book the paid session. They didn’t reply to your follow-up message. They might still be interested — or they might’ve forgotten entirely.
Most businesses leave these leads behind. But smart ones?
They automate personalized follow-ups that re-engage potential clients and gently nudge them forward.
For wellness providers, coaches, and solo service providers, this can mean the difference between 1 client and 10.
What You’ll Achieve
You’ll set up a workflow that:
- Detects when someone completes a free consult or form
- Triggers a follow-up email or text if they haven’t booked within a set timeframe
- Personalizes the message based on the service or response
- Increases conversion without requiring manual tracking
What to Expect After Setup
- Warm leads will convert at higher rates
- You’ll stop losing people who were almost ready
- Your follow-up will feel intentional, not spammy
What You’ll Need
You’ll only need 30-45 minutes and free/low-cost tools to get started:
- Intake tool like Tally.so, Jotform, Calendly, Typeform
- Email automation like ConvertKit, MailerLite, Flowdesk, Zapier
- CRM or spreadsheet (optional) like Nortion, Airtable, Google Sheets
Step-by-Step Instructions
Let’s walk through using Tally.so + ConvertKit.
✅ Step 1: Identify Your “Abandon Point”
You need to define when someone is considered “incomplete” or “abandoned.” Examples:
- Filled out interest form but didn’t schedule
- Attended free consult but didn’t purchase
- Downloaded lead magnet but didn’t book
✅ Step 2: Set Up a Tally Form With Tagging
- Go to Tally.so → Create new form
- Add fields: Name, Email, Interest Area, Service Type
- Under “Integrations,” connect to ConvertKit
- Tag contacts as:
- Consult-Filled
- Did-Not-Book (you’ll apply this with a time delay later)
✅ Step 3: Build a Follow-Up Sequence in ConvertKit
- Go to Automations → New Automation
- Set trigger: Tag added → Consult-Filled
- Add a delay: Wait 2 days
- Add condition: Has NOT booked (Tag = Booked)
- Send email: Subject: “Still thinking it over?” | Body: “Hi [Name], just wanted to check in. Totally okay if you’re not ready — but if you have questions or want to chat more, here’s my calendar. Spots are limited this week!” [Insert Calendly link]
✅ Step 4: Optional — Add Multiple Touchpoints
- Day 4 → Send testimonial or case study
- Day 6 → Offer a limited-time bonus or reminder
- Day 8 → Invite feedback or exit survey (even this can drive re-engagement)
✅ Step 5: Tag Once They Book to Exit Flow
- When someone books a paid service, apply tag Booked
- Add rule in automation to remove them from follow-up emails
- This ensures they’re not chased after they’ve already converted
